CURRICULUM VITAE

Artist Statement

Meghan Sours is a representational portrait artist rooted in the realist tradition. Meghan works primarily in drawing and oil painting using an indirect method. Her artistic focus centers on creating contemplative and intimate portrayals, particularly of women and children. Whether working from life or photographic reference, Meghan employs a meticulous approach, paying close attention to the interplay of light and form in her compositions.

In each portrait, Meghan aspires to transcend mere resemblance, delving into the nuanced narrative of human expression. Her ultimate aim is to uplift the human spirit through her art, capturing not just the physical likeness but also the subtle emotions that resonate within each subject.
